REAL ESTATE INVENTORY & PRICING – BACK TO NORMAL!
The number of properties for sale has finally returned to the levels reported back in the 2004 to 2005 period. Simultaneously, prices have also returned to the pre-boom 2004-2005 levels.
Average sale prices in Punta Gorda Isles/Burnt Store Isles and the Burnt Store Marina and Burnt Store Lakes markets have gone up roughly 10% from 2015-2017, with the number of unit sales back on track in 2017. This follows the dip in 2016 which was mainly attributed to the drop in the financial market in the first quarter of 2016, our prime selling season.
Perhaps the strongest change reported over the past two years is in the strengthening of the upper portion of our market. Sales of single family homes over $650,000 in Punta Gorda Isles/Burnt Store Isles increased 100% in 2017 from levels reported in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, houses in this price range generally sold in 5-6 months vs. 8 months the previous year. Sales in the same segment in Burnt Store Marina also increased 100% from 2016 (zero were reported in 2015) and generally sold in 1-2 months.
Jennifer Calenda sold roughly $23,000,000 of property in 2017, bringing her total sales since 2000 to over $250,000,000.

|Lemon Bay Playhouse Readers Theater at Copperfish Books|

Come to Copperfish Books on Thursday, January 11 at 6 pm for a special performance by the Lemon Bay Playhouse’s Readers Theater Outreach Troupe. The performance will last about an hour. The Troupe will perform four selections:
- “All I Want is the Recipe” by Georgia Tuxbury
- “DMV Tyrant” by Christopher Durang
- “Mrs. Claus” by Bruce Boeck
- And a surprise.
Readers Theater is a form of theater where lines are not memorized but read by actors from a script. This performance will be simply staged – the actors are seated and stage directions are read aloud. Please bring your imagination and come experience the written word in a different way!

Our Third Friday Drive In features a family friendly movie monthly. We have concessions on site but people are welcome to bring their own food. Some people listen to the sound on their car radios as we have an FM transmitter (95.5 fm) but many others choose to sit in lawn chairs in front of our 40′ screen and listen through our speaker system.
Down town Punta Gorda, right across from River City Grill (121 Marion Avenue). This is now a free event. However our costs for putting it on are around $1000 per movie. We ask for donations, and are also looking for sponsors to help support the event.

Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center in Punta Gorda is excited to host a special exhibition by renowned photographer David Sussman. The exhibit, entitled Nature Preserved, captures the beauty of the natural environment and wildlife located within. A local artist, David Sussman highlights many native habitats and animals. This exhibit features over 50 canvas and print photographs, ranging from a life-sized Florida panther, to a breathtaking sunset, to microscopic spores.
